If you can eat those unhealthy vegetable oils that are so high in unsaturated fats, you definitely can eat virgin coconut oil (VCO) which is a much healthier option.
Why is it healthier to consume virgin coconut oil?
It's chock-full of antimicrobials, especially lauric acid, caprylic acid and capric acid. These fatty acids are not just potent antimicrobials that defend you against harmful pathogens, they are medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) that boost metabolism as well.
Many have reported a surge in their metabolism and hence, weight loss after taking virgin coconut oil.
On top of that, these MCFAs are also natural antioxidants against free-radical reactions. Free radicals from food and environment are the main cause of premature aging.
We have been using and eating VCO since 2006 and we know how best (not just good) it is for our health and overall well-being.
Though VCO is edible and healthy for us, it's best to take it with food. I mean, you can eat it raw by itself but make sure your stomach is not empty when you do so. Consuming virgin coconut oil may trigger diarrhea side effects when you take it raw on an empty stomach.
For seniors or pregnant woman, be sure to mix VCO into food. Otherwise, the runs can drain you out.
Can baby eat virgin coconut oil?
Why not? Women's breast milk carries also lauric acid, caprylic acid and capric acid. If babies can drink that, they absolutely can ingest virgin coconut oil. But to prevent them from the GI symptoms as mentioned earlier, add the oil to their soft meals.
If you're breastfeeding your baby, you should eat more VCO to help increase the antimicrobial levels in your milk. This way your baby can indirectly gain the health benefits of virgin coconut oil.
Do you have cats or dogs at home?
You can extend the benefits of virgin coconut oil to these cute little animals too.
Did you know that the food you feed them every day are usually made with oils that are high in unsaturated fats. Unsaturated fats oxidize extremely easily and thus, are toxic not just to human health, but to animal health as well. Similarly, mix VCO well into their food.
