  1. Hello Soon Chai. Thank you for all this wonderful information. I recently read where a coconut oil detox could be done by swishing a Tbsp of coconut oil around inside your mouth and spitting out so all the toxins the oil pulled out would be eliminated. Is this even possible? If so, and I was to add coconut oil to my diet, would that help with weight loss and just helping my body to become healthier? Supposedly coconut oil helps rid the bowels of candida, are there foods I should abstain from eating so as to not counter act it's benefits?

    One thing though, I have always almost immediately vomited upon smelling coconut. I am afraid to open my new bottle. People have always told me coconut milk doesn't smell like the smell generally associated with say suntan oils. The ingredients listed are : LCO MCT 100 (Liquid Coconut Oil MCT), contains tree nuts.

    • Hi Cindi, it's true that coconut oil pulling can help cleanse your mouth of germs (and toxins). It also keeps your gum healthy as well as it prevents harmful germs from entering your body. Thanks to the antimicrobial medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) in coconut oil. I do oil-pulling daily and I feel it's so much better than using antiseptic mouthwash.

      Oil pulling does not help in weight loss, but eating coconut oil does make your fat burn. This is because the same MCFAs in the oil will help accelerate your metabolism for fat-burning, besides fighting germs to help boost your immunity.

      Candida is a genus of yeast that feeds on sugar. Watch your sugar and carb intake. Also, toxins from meat can weaken your immunity that indirectly promote Candida growth. That said, cut back on your meat consumption as well.

      I mean, improve your diet gradually. Like over the course of several weeks (or even months) rather than trying to eliminate the bad stuff quickly. Doing so often triggers "withdrawal symptoms" that could easily fall you back onto your old eating habit or make you become worse than before. Gradual changes are more sustainable and longer-lasting.

      Virgin coconut oil does smell of coconut. Of course, some brands are milder while others are stronger. You can try Nutiva refined coconut oil, which holds almost what a virgin coconut oil carries, but without the coconut smell.

      If the ingredients you showed refer to your new bottle of "coconut oil", then that's actually a MCT oil, which should be unflavored. MCT oil is a derivative of coconut oil, so it's not a pure coconut oil.

  2. I feel compelled to add my own experience to this thread. Firstly, thank you previous askers, as you have asked most of my questions. Thank you Soon Chai, I now know this horrible turn of events wasn't from food poisoning but rather my ingestion of CO this morning.

    I made the mistake of substituting my coffee creamer with 2 TBSP of CO and blending thoroughly. Coffee already helps my bowels along, but BOY the CO is a power combo with coffee. I almost blew myself off the toilet with the eruption.

    Soon Chai, what is the best method of intake for CO? Is it best paired with certain foods? I will never again have it with coffee.

    • Hi Matt, since coffee already helps your bowels, 2 Tbsps of coconut oil is definitely too potent for you. You can still add coconut oil to your coffee, but this time round just a teaspoonful will do.

      As far as I'm concerned, coconut oil mixes well with literally any food. We add it to brown rice, noodles, pasta, soup, smoothie, juice, soy milk, almond milk, desserts, spread it on multigrain bread, dip cookies in it, pour over veggie pizza (I'm a vegetarian), mix with salad, and anything you can think of.

      We cook with coconut oil as well. How best coconut oil is paired with certain food is up to your palate.

      Bottom line, always eat coconut oil with food to scale down its bowel-stimulating effect. And keep in mind to always begin with a small dose and work your way up gradually until you reach 3 or 4 tablespoons per day for health protection.

    I had Pancreatic Cancer 3 years ago and for the first 6 months I had bowel problems going every few hers or minutes so would not eat for a day or two but it quite after that. I had a Whipple and had 1/2 my pancreas removed. Had hernia's from that and had them fixed in 2015. Now having infections every once in while UTI and an constipated from meds so I am going to try this.
    They figure that the chemo has hurt my heart now so here we go again!
    Will this affect the creon that I take?

    • Hi Thomas, virgin coconut oil accelerates metabolism and hence, activity. So, it should work to improve your nutrient absorption while CREON helps to break down food.

      Also, virgin coconut oil can help to strengthen your fight against cancerous cells since it boosts immunity. Your cancer is not at all gone though you've gone through the surgery, so getting on a coconut oil diet is good for you.

      I understand that you're eager to try out coconut oil, but just to be on the safe side, start off with a just a teaspoon added to your breakfast or any meal on that day. Just a teaspoonful per day. I know it sounds little, but some people may react quite severely to just a teaspoon of virgin coconut oil.

      Keep to that amount for 7 days and see what happens. If your body feels good with virgin coconut oil, increase the intake. When increasing the amount of virgin coconut oil, always do it gradually.

      Keep this in mind... if your body needs longer time such as several weeks to hit 4 tablespoons of coconut oil consumption per day (which is the recommended dosage for strong immunity and better health), then just give it.

      Do not rush or you could end up with some adverse reactions (healing crisis) that you wouldn't want to experience.

    Started using Virgin Coconut Oil 100% for the last three weeks and below is a list of some of the symptoms am experiencing after die-off of candida yeast.

    Headache, fatigue, dizziness
    Swollen glands
    Bloating, gas, constipation or diarrhea
    Increased joint or muscle pain
    Elevated heart rate
    Chills, cold feeling in your extremities
    Body itchiness, hives or rashes
    Skin breakouts

    I have had candida in the last 16yrs, dry skinned person and my face is only part of my body that candida love the most.
    I am patient but I believe my self esteem will be back!!!
