Tried the coconut oil for first time today. Took one tablespoon. Within 5 minutes I had severe gas, bloating, and discomfort. A short time later my colon was cleansed. Not the results I was expecting but am convinced this oil works. Will drastically reduce amount for next intake.
What is best way to have actual oil and not Crisco?
Putting this in my morning coffee sounds like a wonderful idea.
Hi Bruce, glad that you've got your colon cleansed with coconut oil.
Best way is to get virgin (unrefined) coconut oil. Yes, it does make your coffee more aromatic when you add virgin coconut oil. Keep in mind that coconut oil and coffee doesn't mix well, unless you use a blender.
I whip my coffee with coconut oil and ghee or butter in my vitamixer and then the oil isn't floating on top.
Hi Shelley, I've never tried your way before and it's good to know that it doesn't float. Anyway, that's a good way to consume coconut oil. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
I blend mine as well, makes it frothy like a Latte.
Sounds yummy with froth on top. Thanks for sharing, Karin.
Can u use it in green tea my first time using it
Hi Charlotte, coconut oil is a food itself. It's a very versatile food. So, yes, you can add to your green tea. But since it's your first time, try one teaspoon first and hopefully you find it pleasant to begin with. Too much coconut oil may trigger diarrhea.
Never ever take it on an empty stomach, always take it after breakfast, dinner Etc
Or simply add to breakfast, dinner etc.
Hey Everyone.
Its nice to know folks are checking out the different methods to up-regulate themselves.
Isn't it important to either eat a normal breakfast OR drink coffee/ MCT oil? Never at the same time?
Its figured counter intuitive.
I found out that fennel is very good for gas in your stomach, you can buy the fresh fennel or fennel seed capsules and use it with the coconut oil.
Hi, could i use coconut oil for cold sores? thanks
Hi Dave, cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus, which is a type of lipid-coated virus. Yes, the lauric acid in coconut oil will kill this virus. Just apply to the blisters. But do not use liquid fractionated coconut oil because this type of coconut oil does not have lauric acid. Even if it does, the amount is limited. Use virgin coconut oil which has the most lauric acid in it.
Hello I've been using coconut oil 2 teaspoons in my smoothies, and suddenly I got a cold sore, could this also be related to the die off of candida?
Also I have been experiencing bloating and today fatigue and drowsiness,I also feel what I think is a swollen gland on top of one shoulder,do we have glands there and is it possible to feel when they're swollen or could this be unrelated?
And last question I suffer from hypertension which had been kept under control until the last couple of days when it has been spiking a bit,it could not be related to the die off symptoms bu I still wanted to ask if it's possible that the toxins being released could cause a spike in blood pressure?
I am determined to continue with the coconut oil because I really want to heal. Thank you so much for your time Mr.Soon Chai I really appreciate it.
Hi Diana, never heard of cold sore being a symptom of Candida die-off. Cold sore is normally caused by HSV (herpes simplex virus). Rub coconut oil on your cold sore as often as you can and it should vanish in a few days.
Your feeling of bloating, fatigue and drowsiness are not solely the work of coconut oil. Smoothies contain tons of other phytonutrients that are helping your body to detox.
We have lymph nodes ("glands") all over our body, including shoulder. It is possible to feel the swell when the node bulges up to especially 2 to 3 times its usual size.
I wouldn't rule out the possibility that toxin expulsion can influence blood pressure since whatever your body does will have an impact on the flow of blood. But how strong the impact is would depend on how intense the detox reaction is.
But with regular consumption of adequate coconut oil (at least 3 tablespoons a day), your hypertension should improve. Your choice of using coconut oil is a good one. But if you feel it might be causing certain symptoms that you find unbearable, stop the intake for a few days and see what happens.
Absolutely! When I up any form of antifungal in conjunction with the anticandida diet I'm on my throats looks like strep. Every time I up the antifungals or compromise my body's ability to filter out toxins by adding to them my throats hurts or I get sores in my mouth. When I started this whole process My lymph nodes popped out on the beck of my head, I itch, get fevers, my blood pressure elevates, heart rate elevates, I get nauseous, my joints hurt a lot etc. die offs depend on how extensive your overgrowth is. Candida releases a lot of toxins when they die and the live candida are excreating their own toxins constantly. All of these toxins have to be filtered out.Vitamin c helps with die offs, avoiding candida feeding foods can intensify die offs but decrease the length of time you have die offs. A gallon of water a day, sweat a little if u can and sleep well and take naps if u feel u need to. Don't take it too fast it's not a race. I've been doing this for 4 months and I'm better than I was but I've been declining physically for about 7 years. It's easy to question this process partly because of how much it differs from the medical process we're use to I think. What's helped me the most is research and talking to others doing this also.
i hope this helps even if a little
Hello Tiffany, I really appreciate your additional info that sheds light on the detox process, which is often known as healing crisis. Your comment will not help just a little but a whole bang lot for those who are truly in need. Thank you very very much for your input. Do drop by often to share with us your experience again. 😀
Thank you Tiffany!! I have this same sensations where my throat feeling like I have strep. I really appreciate the information you provided.
I also broke out with a cold sore (my second, first one was 10 years ago) and I'm a little spacey. I'm hoping these go away because I also am losing weight :), and my skin looks better.
How long does it take cadidia side effects to wear off. I think I have a few. Also should I cut back on the coconut. Oil because of the side effects? I usually put a teaspoon in my coffee daily
Hi Patty, that depends on how much Candida yeast you have in your gut and how fast they replicate. Cutting back on coconut oil will encourage them to grow. But you're only having a teaspoon per day, how severe is the "side effect" on you, I wonder?
Try to reduce your intake of sugar and meat. Sugar feeds the yeast while meat increases your body's toxic load thereby negating the yeast-fighting ability of coconut oil.
Since coconut oil will kill candida... Will it kill candida that has entered the blood stream?
Or just in the stomach and organs the stomach content runs through?
Hi April, coconut oil will kill the yeast as soon as its antimicrobial fatty acids spot it, regardless of whether the yeast is in the bloodstream, organ, or saliva. That's why pulling with coconut oil can help to prevent Candida from entering your body and into your gut. Gut is where the yeast sets in, replicates and colonizes since our gut has lots of food (especially sugar) for them.
Candida can live on the surface of our skin (causing diaper rash) too, so you should also apply coconut oil to your skin frequently.
What if I never had coconut oil before and took 2 teaspoons of coconut oil? How do I ease the side effects?
Hi Alysa, 2 teaspoons may not be potent enough for you to experience any "bad" side effects from coconut oil, so there's nothing to ease. Just in case, mixing coconut oil with food can help to prevent unpleasant effect.
Thank you so much for all these responses you give.
You're welcome, Miriam. Hope that you're benefiting from my messages.
Yes u can, friend was raped had gotten herpes, n now gone for ever. So powerful it heal aids too. Do a real deep research.
Its absolutely impossible to rid the body of herpes.
The herpes virus (hsv) lays dormant in the body, "once infected-always infected". Herpes is the gift that keeps on giving.
The virus will surface aka outbreaks during times of stress, decreased immunity, poor diet, etc..
It is a known fact that 1 in 5 adults is infected with the hsv virus and commonly you wont know unless you get an outbreak. A simple blood test can be done to see if you have HSV, the test will check for HSV-1 and HSV-2.
Unfortunately, there is no possible way that coconut oil will rid the human body of a virus such as HSV.
Hi Tracey, thanks for making that point. You're right. Once you're infected with HSV or HIV, coconut oil, at best can only help to decrease their viral load and suppress their activity so that you can move on with a "normal" life.
Though it's not impossible, it would be difficult to absolutely reduce the viral count to zero. This is just like cancer treatment using the most advanced medical equipment and techniques, the cancerous cells may appear out of sight, but actually some could be lurking somewhere in your body waiting for the right moment to replicate rapidly and strike again.
Therefore, never rely solely on coconut oil to fight viruses. The best way to keep any harmful microbes at bay is to balance up your diet with more natural whole food like dark green leafy vegetables, legumes and fresh fruits.
So it can still kill some virus HIV in the body? thats why it lowers viral load a/
Hi Cris, yes it does help to some extent. But your overall diet is just as important in helping to boost your immunity for fighting HIV. In other words, don't rely solely on coconut oil. Make your diet more powerful so that you have a higher chance of surviving through HIV infection.
In my article on the health benefits of coconut oil, I've briefly talked about how coconut oil keeps HIV in check for a guy named Tony V. You can check that out.
I fell in love with Chlorella and Black Seed Oil.
Dark green leafy vegetables usually have high arginine, the one thing that triggers the herpes virus the most. Spinach is the top offender.
Hi Jason, the American Social Health Association's Herpes Resource Center does not advocate eliminating foods with arginine, and reports that there is no objective proof showing that consuming arginine will increase a person's number of outbreaks.
Thanks for your reply- but everyone knows that arginine out of balance with lysine causes the virus to become agitated. That information has been around for decades.
Hi Jason, information around for decades doesn't mean it is correct. Look at the misinformation about coconut oil, it's the perfect example. It has been slammed since the 80's but now it has finally cleared its name, despite some extreme voices still lambasting and questioning the benefits of coconut oil out there over its "poisonous" saturated fat content.
I had an interesting experience over 10 years ago when I first heard of the health benefits of taking virgin coconut oil, so I ordered some from Tropical Traditions on line. It was very hard to find in local stores then. I started taking a tablespoon in the morning and one in evening, and at the time I happen to have a small wart in my right hand ring finger that I had cut off once with nail clippers but it grew back. About three weeks after taking the coconut oil daily I noticed the wart was gone, but this time I had not intentionally done anything to get rid of it. It was only after realizing taking coconut oil was the only thing that I had added to my daily life, I did more internet research on benefits of it and found out it can kill viruses, I did not know that when I began taking it. I knew warts are caused by a herpes virus and then realized that the coconut oil had killed the virus in my body that had caused the wart. That was in 2001 and it had never returned.
Lysine cures cold sores in a flash.
I started drinking the coconut oil in my coffee every morning and now my stools are smooth and steady I'm very grateful for this and I hope it works for you as well that works for me
Hi Christine, great to learn that coconut oil has made your stools smooth. But do beware of the bulletproof side effect when coconut oil reacts with caffeine. If the effect doesn't wear off at night, it may disrupt your sleep.
Do you use solid or fractioned oil
I am taking capsules.
DO THE CAPSULES WORK I just bought 1000 mg soft gels by Nature's Way. FOR MY CONSTIPATION.
Hi Patricia, please read my post on coconut oil for constipation. You'll get the answer you need.
Woow!! I'm so grateful. I read here that coconot oil can help to move the bowl,so I decided to take a tablespoon of the the coconot oil that I just bought after praying not only did it made me to move my bowl it also gave me a relief in my nostrils because I have been feeling uncomfortable because of the cough I had .I have taken some cough syrup but to no avail. The moment I took the coconot oil. I got myself. I'm so so happy and thankful, this is amazing. Thank you Jesus.
Hi Blessing, your experience with coconut oil would help those who have the same constipation and nasal problems as you. Thanks for sharing.
God is so good & intentional
Thank you
How much coconut oil do you put in your coffee?
1 would not start with that much I took my first teaspoon full today my stomach feels so much better and I have constipation from my pain meds nothing and I mean nothing else has helped over a period of 20 yesrs. So be care full with the dose with a baby
Hello I've been suffering from constipation for atleast a week now ive tried everything but nothing has helped me... My stool is harder than brick and the pain is killing me... How much coconut oil dosage should i take and do u recommend any pill for the pain?
Hi Chorita, your stool turns hard because most of the fluid (water) in the stool has been absorbed by your body.
Ingest a tablespoon of coconut oil (without food) followed by a glass of water and see how it goes. Without adequate water intake to hydrate your stool, the laxative properties in coconut oil won't work as effectively as they should. After an hour if still no signs of bowel movement, take another tablespoon. If you feel you need to consume more water, by all means. Work with what your body needs.
I don't recommend drugs for killing pain since any drugs could have dried up your stool. But you're free to decide what's best for you at this point.
I started taking 1 tablespoon this morning due to a hospital stay and pain medication 4 days ago. Needless to say I've not had a bowel movement yet. I put 1 tablespoon of solid coconut oil in my coffee but I want to drink enough water, should I drink warm water or tea to keep the oil from solidifying. Or any water is good? Thank you for your time and effort in helping us here.
Hi Barbara, warm water works better. Room temp (not lower than 77 °F or 25 °C) water is fine. Coconut oil solidifies below 76 °F (24.4 °C). Tea is diuretic, which will make you pee more and dry up your stool. Coffee may have a laxative effect which works well with coconut oil, but it's also diuretic.
Are you still taking pain medication? Some pain medications can slow your bowel movement causing more water (from the stool) to get absorbed via intestinal cells, leaving behind little amount of fluid to soften the stool. If you're on medication, increase your water consumption. The laxative properties in coconut oil require water to help soften stool and ease constipation.
Is liquid coconut oil okay for consumption for bowel and thyroid, or is the solid oil better? Thank you, Carmen
Hi Carmen, pure coconut oil begins to solidify at temperatures below 76 °F (24.4 °C). Which is why some people call it a solid coconut oil. If you hold some in your hand it will melt quickly. But if it has become so hard that you can't scoop it, you need to melt the hardened coconut oil before you can start using it.
I suspect the liquid coconut oil you have is a fractionated coconut oil. Please make sure it's food-grade before you start consuming.
To answer your question, both types of coconut oil are good for thyroid and constipation. But the one that turns solid below 76 °F (24.4 °C) provides much better health benefits.
I just tried that today & it worked! I mean within 30 minutes, I had to go. I drink coffee daily. I will now add coconut oil.
Dont make the mistake i did. 3 tabelspoons when your body isn't adapted to it yet will cause horrific stomach pain and diarrhea. Also on another note, dont make the second mistake i also made in buying the unrefined virgin coconut oil in the plastic container. Avoid plastic contaminant and buy glass.
Couldn't agree more with you, Christopher. Too much coconut oil may cause diarrhea especially when you're just getting started. Choosing coconut oil in glass over plastic is definitely safer, but you've to pay a few bucks more.
I use coconut oil when making my Cannabis capsules, I also have Ulcerative colitis, and lots of stress, right now, can the capsules give me diarrhea? I am dropping weight very fast, 15 lbs. in one month, any experience you may have heard similar, would love info is possible..thank you
Hi Nancy, If a capsule contains only 1g of coconut oil, and you take 2 caps, you shouldn't get diarrhea from coconut oil since it's too little to effect anything.
But cannabidiol (CBD) in cannabis may induce diarrhea. It can also cause constipation. It all depends on how your body reacts. Do use cannabis with extreme care. Done right, it helps. Done wrong, it kills. It's a double-edged sword.
Hi I have not been eating co but putting it on my skin and I’ve been having these symptoms of diarrhoea would this be normal too
Lynda
Hi Lynda, I don't think putting coconut oil on skin can cause diarrhea since there's only that much coconut oil your skin can absorb. Look back on what you've been eating, rather. Or, could it be your stress from work or other factors? Think about it.
Thank you for the quick reply looking at all recent changes I have made
You're welcome, Lynda.
Hi any thoughts on coconut oil from Costco? I’m first time user and bought that one it does come in a plastic container...
Hi Alba, Costco's Kirkland coconut oil should be fine as long as it smells and tastes good to you even though it's stored in plastic jar.
Last time I bought Coconut oil I bought in glass and dropped the jar. It was a complete loss.
Hi Brandy, that's the trade-off for choosing coconut oil in glass. But you gain peace of mind. No worrying of plastic tainting the oil.
Though a glass bottle isn't really dependable either. The last jar of it I bought was in a glass jar and it was before I realized there was such a thing as refined and unrefined coconut oil. Needless to say, it turned out to be refined. (It did not specifically say, but it didn't say "unrefined / organic / raw / etc" either...But it definitely is refined.)
I love coconut and will eat raw anytime I make coconut sweet rice with ginger spices I drain the coconut oil and boil it with all these ingredients. I use the coconut water and coconut milk if I have it at hand if not I just use the coconut from the blender and squeeze it out with a spoon or u can use a cloth to squeez the juice out. I don't measure the ingredients sorry I'm just use to making it .
Thanks for sharing your ways of reaping benefits from coconut, Maria.
Hi Maria that recipe sounds delicious, would you please give me the exact recipe pleeeease?! Thanks
