Natural Remedies for Insomnia

Have you been sleeping badly in the past few nights, or worse, not able to sleep a wink on some nights? Don't you dread those sleepless nights?

You flop heavily into bed after an awfully exhausted day. But your active mind refuses to rest. You keep rewinding today's events. You're worried about tomorrow's work. You cannot stop new ideas racing through your mind.

You lie there staring at the ceiling in the dark for what seems like a long time, unable to sleep.

Just when you finally drift off to slumberland (or worse, you didn't catch a wink at all), your alarm clock goes off and... it's time to reluctantly drag yourself off the bed. How tiring!

You are not alone. Experiencing hateful sleepless nights now and then is pretty common. But if you suffer from having trouble falling asleep consistently for 3 or more nights in a week, you're in for a severe sleep disorder – insomnia.

Imagine you manage to sack out but you tend to wake up frequently during the night with difficulty falling back to sleep. And you feel tired, listless, irritable and sluggish the next day. That also signifies insomnia.

What Cause Insomnia?

Insomnia doesn't come uninvited – there must be a cause for it to turn up at your bed step. Scan through the below points ...read more »

How to Stop Late Night Eating?

Do you crave snack late at night even though you don't feel hungry at all? You just want to have something sweet to nibble on, right?

You're not alone. I was like that too, especially when I stayed up late burning the midnight oil working on projects or watching my favorite late night TV programs.

Actually, eating snacks isn't a bad thing at all. But late night eating is definitely bad. It can evoke hormonal disorder, lead to insulin resistance and cause weight gain which can turn into diabetes or other nightmarish health problems.

To prevent my health from getting into a fix, I managed to beat my bad habits and stop late night snacking effectively. Now I'm sharing the techniques and strategies here and hope you'll find them useful.

1. Eat a Satisfying Dinner

A satisfying meal at dinner can help curb your cravings for late night snacking. By satisfying, I don't mean BIG portion but rather, a balanced (containing adequate carbs, fat and protein), nutrient-dense and fiber-rich meal that will put your true hunger off till the next morning.

Disadvantages of Coconut Oil

No matter how good something is, it will carry at least one or few drawbacks for us to ponder upon, always. Despite its powerful healing properties and massive health benefits, coconut oil is no exception.

Disadvantage #1 – No Effect on "Cold"

According to Dr. Bruce Fife, the president of the Coconut Research Center in his book, The Coconut Oil Miracle, there is one common ailment (close to flu) that coconut oil has no effect upon.

That's cold.

Symptoms of cold and flu may look alike, but they're triggered by different viruses. The most common virus that causes cold is known as rhinovirus while the one that causes flu is called influenza virus. Only our own immune system can defeat cold virus. MCFAs in coconut oil can't do anything to the cold virus, hence you'll be down with cold even if you consume coconut oil regularly.

When cold strikes you, your immune system immediately sends white blood cells to combat the virus. This natural defensive response causes the overall immune system guard to weaken and become vulnerable to the invasion of other harmful germs. They'll enter and proliferate in your body, thereby aggravating your cold condition and might even lead to other problematic illnesses or diseases.

But good news is ...read more »

Can Coconut Oil Cause Diarrhea?

If you experience symptoms similar to diarrhea and feel a little nauseous after eating coconut oil, odds are, you have taken a bit too much especially when you're just getting started with this health-promoting super food or your body has yet to get used to its bowel-loosening effect.

Coconut oil causes diarrhea

Coconut oil (particularly the virgin type) contains 64% medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), which are not only good at protecting you against diseases and harmful microorganisms, but are also effective in softening stools and loosening bowels.

In other words, coconut oil is a powerful cure for constipation as one of its many health benefits.

However, taking 2 or even 3 tablespoons of the oil in one sitting especially on an empty stomach can cause diarrhea-like symptoms. Not only coconut oil starters, even seasoned coconut oil eaters (like me) or those who have serious constipation issues will have very loose stools if they consume the oil that way.

This is one of the side effects resulting from eating too much coconut oil in one sitting.

One thing worth mentioning is that the "side effects" that coconut oil causes does not ...read more »

How to Use Coconut Oil for Flu?

I've heard much about how coconut oil can kill flu virus. But when I got attacked by flu virus, I didn't know exactly how to fix it with coconut oil at first.

I then try various amount of coconut oil and in the meantime, carry out some measures to supplement and complement my flu treatment with coconut oil whenever flu hits me. I also experiment the oil's effect on my wife when she's down with flu (she's more prone to flu attack, "thanks" to her work environment that is so densely floated with viruses, bacteria and other germs that I have the "honor" to perform several reality experiments).

The entire experiment spans across several months and I finally found a natural remedy for flu. It's exceptionally effective and what's even better is that, you never have to suffer these flu symptoms anymore:

  • Sore throat that makes you swallow even saliva painful, let alone enjoying your food.
  • Loss of voice that makes you totally "speechless".
  • Runny nose that causes mucus to flow out of your nose profusely like running river, which is irritating.
  • Blocked nose that forces you to breathe through your mouth like a fish.
  • Severe coughing that makes you lose the quality of your sleep.
  • High fever that triggers severe headaches and makes you feel dizzy and weak, and shiver with cold for hours. Constipation may come along too.

Flu symptoms

For your infoIf you get sneezy nose first, chances are you've been attacked by bacteria. These bacteria may drain your immunity that causes you to become more prone to flu infection. Which is why some people may begin with sneezy nose followed by throat infection then to runny nose and cough, or sneezy nose to runny nose and straight to cough bypassing throat infection.

To top it off, you won't need medication that makes you feel drowsy and spiritless all day long, and you won't have to suffer the terrible side- and after-effects of medication. These are the benefits of using coconut oil to treat your flu.

Mild flu symptoms after using coconut oil

However, don't expect to take coconut oil today and cure your flu tomorrow. It takes time for coconut oil to spot, fight and kill all flu viruses and repair whatever internal damages (to the tissues and organs) the viruses have inflicted on. Also, it largely depends on ...read more »
